This article is about the extra accessories that can be used
or say is useful to have while going out for a photoshoot or any type of
photography event. There is always a question of what should I buy as a
photographer after purchasing the camera. Should it be the camera bag, a new
lens or just a filter for the use. Let’s clear all that doubt in this article.
Because of all that confusion
I have divided this article into sections
- Must Have’s
- Should Buy
Let me assure you that after reading this article you will
have the erg to buy some equipment straight away if you not have already bought
it.
So, let’s see what you already have in your camera backpack there
be a camera , its battery , two lenses one is 18-55mm & other one is
55-250mm , a 16GB SanDisk card. Right? all the things mentioned here are
already with you. Now the question you might ask do I need something more? Well
yes and no. If you are willing to make career in photography then you need a
lot more gear than you already have.
So, let’s get started with our list of must have’s
Must Have’s
Must haves be those accessories that a photographer must
purchase at the time of purchasing a camera. However, I know that purchasing
every must have accessories at the same time can be a costly deal, so it advised
to buy after a month or two.
Here is what a photographer Must Have
Extra Batteries
You don’t want to run out of battery power in middle of the shoot,
do you? To avoid this kind of awkward situation you must have an extra set of
batteries.
Pair of SD cards
What about you are doing a wedding shoot and your card space
is full? You can’t give excuse to the client, can you? Better off Buying a set
of good quality premium SD card in spare.
Light Reflectors
Light reflectors are used on photoshoots on hot sunny day to
bounce off a soft light onto the model. They are small easy to carry and have a
5-in-one function. So, if you didn’t buy one, buy right now.
UV Filters
There are lots of filters for camera which have different
functions, however a UV filter is used to protect the original surface of the
lens. So, it’s advised to buy a UV filter as soon you can.
Battery Grip
A battery grip holds two camera batteries and prolong the
battery life of the camera, this in turn increase the no. of clicks for the
camera. However, battery grip cost starts from Rs. 5,000/- and changes
according to the model of the camera.
If you are a photographer check what of the above mentions
you are missing and if you can afford it go and do so now. However, if you don’t
purchase the battery grip it’s ok until you have the extra pair of batteries
with you.
Let’s move one to the Should have sections of this
article
Should Have
Should have are those gears or accessories that you as a
photographer may or may not purchase as per the level of your photography
experience. On the other hand if you have the gear listed below then it’s for
your own benefit for most of the time during the shoots.
Here is what a photographer Should Have
Flash
Although a camera has a built-in pop up flash and it work for
most of the event but do you know that “internal flash consumes more battery”
while shooting. That is why its recommended to but an external flash which have
its own power source. The flash light starts from as low as Rs. 3000/- and all
the way up.
Big Camera Bag
At the time of purchase of a new camera you might get a complementary
bag to carry the camera, but that bag can only hold up to 1 lens in addition that’s
when one of them is attached to the camera body. A big camera bag of middle range say around
Rs. 5000/- can hold up to 2 lenses in addition while another one is attached to
the body so in total you can hold 3 lenses. And also, there is space for your SD card,
camera charger and all other small stuff to be kept.
Lapel Mic
For most of the time the internal mic of the camera does the
work while recording the video, but what about when you will be recording any
interview or bite or say starting a new YouTube channel. Then the internal mic
will be not as much effective. A dedicated lapel mic to record audio is
required for that kind of work.
Waterproof case for DSLR
This is for those who are willing to take their camera into
rainy weather or say directly into water for shoots. Then waterproof case is a
must have in that situation. However, if you are not into water photography
then its not really a need to buy this gear.
This conclude our article, I hope you found some information regarding photography and this will help you to make a strong career in photography.
